Bloody Brain Shooter

Ingredients:
1 1/4 oz. strawberry vodka such as Stoli
1/8 oz. Rose’s lime juice
3/4 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
Splash of grenadine

Preparation:
Chill vodka for better smoothness. Add vodka and lime juice to a shaker, shake and strain into a shot glass. Using a straw, dip some Bailey’s Irish Cream into the shot. Once you submerge the straw into the Bailey’s put your finger on top of the straw to hold the Bailey’s in the straw. Dip the straw tip into the vodka and slowly release your top finger. The Bailey’s will curdle a little bit due to the lime juice and you should be able to make strands of Bailey’s.
Repeat the straw/Bailey’s process to build a “brain” in the shot glass. Add a splash of grenadine to the concoction to add the ‘blood’ to the mix.

The Seven Laws of Psychic Energy

"These laws of energy are not alterable. These laws have always been and will always be in existence."

Traditional secular scientists are now in agreement with the spiritual scientists and have conceded that all visible matter and invisible waves in the world can be reduced to 'vibrating energy'.

Below you will find laws of energy taken from information accumulated over the last few hundred years of documented human experience.

When I first started doing research into psychic phenomena I was looking for psychic laws. I found that although the laws existed by imputation, no one had hitherto formulated specific universal psychic laws.

We have laws for everything - civil and criminal laws to conduct human behavior, laws of physics describing the forces which regulate the universe, laws of biology and other laws.

Accordingly, now for the very first time it is proposed that specific laws be codified about psychic energies - not just those which operate in the physical world but energies that also transcend the physical world.

Whilst more than half of the people of the world to-day will readily attest to the validity of these laws of energy it may take some decades for these laws to be universally accepted.

1. First Law of psychic energy:
All 'solid' objects are vibrating energy.
Unseen waves are also vibrating energy- sound, radio, electricity, light, television waves, microwaves, x-rays, gamma rays and psychic energy waves.

2. Second law of psychic energy:
The mind is an 'energy station' which creates transmits and receives energy.

The will (of the mind) can change the form of energy. Thoughts, which are waves of energy, can be transmitted to and from human minds within the earthplane and to human and other entities in the afterlife in a process called telepathy.

3. Third law of psychic energy:
All living humans have a body made up of vibrationary energy which is a duplicate of the physical body and will survive physical death.
This vibrationary energy body invisible to physical eyes can change form but can never be destroyed and retains consciousness.
At the time of physical death, the duplicate body will have reached a certain vibrational level and will go to an energy sphere that can accommodate those vibrations.
Selfless spiritual service increases the vibrational energy of the duplicate body.

4. Fourth law of psychic energy:
The afterlife has different levels of energy which form different spheres according to the speed of vibration.
The faster the vibrations of a sphere the higher and more spiritually evolved are the entities which reside there.

5. Fifth law of psychic energy:
The more spiritually evolved a being is the brighter the energy of the aura.

6. Sixth law of psychic energy:
Slowing down the speed of the atomic vortices of the energy will result in materialisation. Speeding up the vortices will result in de-materialisation

7. Seventh law of psychic energy:

Energy is a 'boomerang' - the energy you give out will return to you.

Kundalini is a psycho-spiritual energy, the energy of the consciousness, which is thought to reside within the sleeping body, and is aroused either through spiritual discipline or spontaneously to bring new states of consciousness, including mystical illumination. Kundalini is Sanskrit for "snake" or "serpent power," so-called because it is believed to lie like a serpent in the root chakra at the base of the spine. In Tantra Yoga kundalini is an aspect of Shakti, the divine female energy and consort of Shiva.

The power of kundalini is said to be enormous. Those having experienced it claim it to be indescribable. The phenomena associated with it varies from bizarre physical sensations and movements, pain, clairaudience, visions, brilliant lights, superlucidity, psychical powers, ecstasy, bliss, and transcendence of self. Kundalini has been described as liquid fire and liquid light.

What is smudging?

Smudging is, for the most part, an act of purification.

The most important thing you need to know about smudging, is that the smoke is highly cleansing. I've heard it said that the smoke has properties which cling to negative energy and remove it from the intended object or person. Whether or not this is true is of little consequence; what matters is that you will notice a marked improvement in the feel of yourself and the surrounding area after using it. Simply burn your herb of choice (see below) and allow the smoke to surround and permeate the object, room, person, etc. You can burn the herb in its loose form, or you can burn a stick of bound leaves.

When To Smudge?

When moving into a new home, flat or room.
When you want to cleanse the energy from a particular place or object.
When feeling depressed, anxious, or otherwise unusual. (Low 'spirtual' energy.)
When needing to focus energy or thoughts.
Before sleep to prevent nightmares.
When needing to relax in general.
Any other time you see fit.

The longer you leave the herb lit, the longer it will burn, and the more smoke it will produce. Don't overdo it; your home will reek. You may want to open a window, as sage (and other herbs) can sometimes smell quite pungent, even when not overdoing it. This smoke is not intended for inhalation. Loose sage produces far more smoke than bundled sticks. Start out with a few pieces and go from there.

What you'll need:

Fresh Rosemary stems
Sage, Thyme and Fennel stalks
Cotton twine

These smudge sticks were used to banish odors from the home and in some cultures they were used to dispel lingering spirits.

Start by gathering all your herbs and tie them tightly together with cotton twine at around 1 cm intervals then leave it to dry for several weeks.

To use, light the end of the herbs with a candle until it begins to smolder and release a thin trail of fragrant smoke.

Allow the stick to burn to the next cotton tie off and extinguish the end. Trim off the burnt ends and your stick is ready to use again.

Friday the 13th, Lucky? or Unlucky?

The number 13 is associated with bad luck in some countries, and even has a specifically recognized phobia, Triskaidekaphobia, a word which was coined in 1911. Friday the 13th has been considered an unlucky day since the 1800s, as a combination between an unlucky day, Friday, and the number 13.

Triskaidekaphobia (from Greek tris meaning "3," kai meaning "and," and deka meaning "10") is fear of the number 13; it is a superstition and related to a specific fear of Friday the 13th, called paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia.

Triskaidekaphobia may have also affected the Vikings—it is believed that Loki in the Norse pantheon was the 13th god. More specifically, Loki was believed to have engineered the murder of Baldr, and was the 13th guest to arrive at the funeral. This is perhaps related to the superstition that if thirteen people gather, one of them will die in the following year. Another Norse tradition involves the myth of Norna-Gest: when the uninvited norns showed up at his birthday celebration—thus increasing the number of guests from ten to thirteen— the norns cursed the infant by magically binding his lifespan to that of a mystic candle they presented to him.

Ancient Persians believed the twelve constellations in the Zodiac controlled the months of the year, and each ruled the earth for a thousand years at the end of which the sky and earth collapsed in chaos. Therefore, the thirteenth is identified with chaos and the reason Persians leave their houses to avoid bad luck on the thirteenth day of the Persian Calendar, a tradition called Sizdah Bedar.

Origins

There is a common myth that the earliest reference to thirteen being unlucky or evil is from the Babylonian Code of Hammurabi (circa 1780 B.C.E.), where the thirteenth law is omitted.

Christianity

* There were thirteen participants at the Last Supper. Tradition states that Judas Iscariot , the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.
* Thirteen was once associated with the Epiphany by Christians, as it is said the child Jesus received the Magi on his thirteenth day of life.
* There are 13 Apostles in Christianity; the 12 Disciples plus St Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus. In addition to being the 13th Apostle, he is also known as "The Apostle" by the Church Fathers.

Judaism

* In Judaism, 13 signifies the age at which a boy matures and becomes a Bar Mitzvah (Age of 12 for Girls, or Bat Mitzvah).
* The number of principles of Jewish faith according to Maimonides
* According to the Torah, God has 13 Attributes of Mercy
* The number of circles, or "nodes", that make up Metatron's Cube in Kaballistic teachings.

On thirteenth day of death a feast is organized. It is believed to be organized for the peace of the departed soul.

Winged Gatekeeper
The image depicted above is an example of Mesopotamian art that is being taught to my 6 year old today. We both enjoyed this lesson very much. We are going to continue with it on our own for enrichment.

The Winged Gatekeepers were placed to scare off enemies and show the power of the King. The torso was the body of a Lion or bull; in this case a bull. It showed he had the strength of a bull and the wings meant he possessed swiftness of an eagle. Sometimes the head was that of the King who took residence in the Palace.

Shedu (taken from zampwiki)

The Shedu is a celestial being from Mesopotamian mythology. He is a human above the waist and a bull below the waist. He also has the horns and the ears of a bull. The bull man helps people fight evil and chaos. He holds the gates of dawn open for the sun god Shamash and supports the sun disc. He is often shown on Cylinder Seals.

It appears frequently in Mesopotamian art, sometimes with wings. Statues of the bull-man were often used as gatekeepers.

After having consumed a few beers, laughing and joking, my girlfriends & I walked into the museum (when it was located in San Diego's Gaslamp District). A descent down a corridor that stopped the laughter instantly. It turned into gasps, oohs and aahs. It ended with us standing in a room; what looked to be the inside of a coffin while facing a guillotine & if I am not mistaken an electric chair. I will never forget that afternoon..

Clay animation. A childhood favorite for many of us. I have it in vhs (Archaic I know) and dvd.

For us, this flick gets dusted off and it comes out on Halloween.

Mad Monster Party is going to be made a live-action film by Warner Bros. Rumor has it that it will release in 2011.

The story goes that Baron Von Frankenstein calls all of the classic monsters to his house for a conference. At the conference he is going to announce who he is going to leave his riches to. Of course everyone is clamoring over it but Frankenstein is going to give it to his normal nephew. Chaos and comedy insue. (Source: Jacky Gilardi)

With pop-culture's Twilight phenomena, or as we like to refer to it here at home; The Harlequin of the Vampire culture. It does not surprise me that The Hunger is in the works. It excites me, but no surprise. Needless to say, the hubby and I are looking forward to it.

I doubt, but I hope, the flick starts with Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) crooning to, "Bela Lugosi's Dead". That was the coolest. Speaking of cool. You think David Bowie will be in this? Doubt that too. Either way, we are looking forward to this flick.

The Hunger Remake Coming From Warner Bros.

Joining the remake cavalcade is a retelling of Tony Scott's 1983 vampire flick The Hunger. Not surprising considering how vamps are Hollywood's new "it" things. The news was teased today via THR, and the only details we know about it is that the film is now in development over at Warner Bros. The original film told the tale of the Egyptian vampire lady Miriam, who subsists upon the blood of her lovers. In return the guys or girls don't age... until Miriam has enough of them. Unfortunately that's currently the case with John, so his life expectancy is below 24 hours. Desperately he seeks help from the famous Dr. Sarah Roberts. She doesn't really believe his story, but becomes curious and contacts Miriam ... and gets caught in her ban, too. How knows how faithful this new flick will be to the original plot-wise. Dig on the trailer below and let's hope for the best, shall we?

In Albanian folklore a shtriga is a witch who preys upon infants by drinking their blood at night. But instead of transforming into an owl when she goes for her midnight snack, she is more apt to take the form of a flying insect.

Behaviour/Features
Only the shtriga herself could cure those she had drained (often by spitting in their mouths), and those who were not cured inevitably sickened and died.
She preferred to drink from young children or even infants.

How to ward off a Shtriga
Traditionally there are several methods effective for defending oneself from shtriga, such as:

a cross made of bone placed at the entrance of a church on Easter Sunday, rendering any Shtriga inside unable to leave. They could then be captured and killed at the threshold as they vainly attempted to pass.
as after draining blood from a victim, the shtriga would generally go off into the woods and regurgitate it, it was believed that soaking a silver coin in that blood, then wrapping it in cloth, it would become an amulet offering permanent protection from any shtriga.

Modern Belief
Even recently many Albanians regard the Shtriga as the most common cause of infant deaths.

The shtriga is related to other witch/vampires such as the Romanian strigoi and the Roman strix.
